a heron feeds
casting ripples
on the water

a brown diamond
bezel of green grass,
my son steals home

peaches -
alomst time to harvest
hurricane Ike took first pick

burrs -
the dog's daily offering
to the carpet

in the shade
a light trickles thru
the Bodhi tree

rooster,
rise and shine

roasting chestnuts -
the squirrel waits
at the door

footfalls
crunch golden red
the path underneath

rustling leaves -
the author works for nuts

junk mail -
the fireplace belches

lost for words,
outside a dog barks

a tree...
the last leaf
alone and cold
